We have a program in our town called Sea Cadets, which is a scaled down version of the navy seals, for children 11 and up. I am considering sending my daughter through the program, hoping she will learn a little respect and discipline. She is 12 and she does not want to go. They have a 2 week boot camp in the summer along with a weekend per month during the year, and 1 week of school vacations. During the summer she would spend 2-3 weeks aboard a navy ship. She is a pretty good kid ( no boyfriends, drinking, drugs) despite the fact she lies to me and is constantly being sneaky, taking my things, and trying to deny it even when caught (hence the lying part). So should i continue to threaten her with the possibility of having to go, or just sign her up. BTW. If she completes 2 years of junior and 2 years of senior cadets, she will be eligible for a full scholarship. Also an advanced pay raise and rank if she decides to continue a career in the navy. so should i sign her up anyways, give her one more chance ( remember she doesn't want to go.) |
