I live with my aunt and she has a tendency to leave things in the refrigerator for a long time, sometimes surpassing the expiration date.
I tend not to risk it and just go ahead and throw the items out.
However she has caught me doing this and has told me that the items were in fact still good because they had remained in the fridge.
I have some knowledge on the issue being that I attended culinary school.
There are 5 groups of people who are most at risk of becoming sick : the very young, the elderly, pregnant women, those who's immune system is suppressed by an illness and those who have had major surgery. She fits into three of those groups.
Another relative said that it's her food she buys it and that it's her decision and no one's but hers.
I love her like a mother and don't want her to become sick she just had surgery.
Do I remove the food when she is not looking?
Allow her to make the decision?
