I'm tossing around ideas for decreasing the divorce rate. They say that a good bit of divorce is caused by impulsive marriage.
Do you think that when a couple applies for a marriage license, they should go through a mandatory 2 year waiting period before being granted permission to be lawfully wed? (religious rights and ceremonies would not be affected... ie... you can get married in a church whenever you want but you won't get a state-issued marriage license or benefits for 2 years after you apply)
Is this curbinr our pursuit of happiness or will couples who really love eachother wait no matter what? |
