My real question now is which one out of these three great Musicians, Kurt, Dimebag, and Dio, are missed the most? I'm sorry that all this is either to boring or to much to read.
Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 April 5, 1994) [Nirvana]
On April 8, 1994, Cobain's body was discovered at his Lake Washington home by an electrician who had arrived to install a security system. Apart from a minor amount of blood coming out of his ear, the electrician reported seeing no visible signs of trauma, and initially believed that Cobain was asleep until he saw the shotgun pointing at his chin. A suicide note was found, addressed to his childhood imaginary friend "Boddah", that said, "I haven't felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music, along with really writing for too many years now". The coroner's report estimated Cobain to have died on April 5, 1994.
Darrell Lance Abbott (August 20, 1966 December 8, 2004) [Pantera]
On December 8, 2004, Abbott was shot to death onstage while performing with Damageplan at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. The gunman, Nathan Gale, shot Abbott four times in the head using a 9mm handgun; the fourth shot killed him instantly. Gale continued shooting, killing three others and wounding a further seven. Gale fired a total of fifteen shots, stopping to reload once and remaining silent throughout the shooting. Nurse and audience member Mindy Reece, 28, went to the aid of Abbott, and she and another fan administered CPR until paramedics arrived, but were unable to revive him.
Ronald James Padavona (July 10, 1942 May 16, 2010) [Heaven & Hell]
On July 10, 2011 in parallel to Ronnie Dio's birthday in Cortland, NY was held a day-long event featuring many central New York local bands and talent for a benefit to the Stand Up and Shout Cancer foundation for cancer research and Dio Memorial concert. Part of the proceeds from the event went to fund a memorial music scholarship for the local city high-school in his name. |
