THE DEEPER MEANING OF ME
Many people have told me that I am the strongest woman they've ever met and it surprises me because I have never felt particularly strong when dealing with life’s circumstances that are not ideal. However, if “what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger” is true, I must be a strong woman.
I’ve always been referred to as quite intelligent, but I think the most intelligent thought I have is the realization of how little I really know. Alas, perhaps intelligence is the ability to think and I can do that. I enjoy thinking. I consider myself capable of deep thought.
I have a heart that aches whether be it with joy or sorrow. I experience life at my core. I can find joy in things others miss such as the sound of the rain, the smell of the ocean, and the texture of a rose petal. When I first moved to Alabama, the sight of orange dirt made me giddy. I look forward to all the new experiences life still has to offer.
I am constantly working on improving myself as I believe that life is a journey and we never really reach a destination. I like to dream and, when possible, turn those dreams into reality. I am under the belief that if something is worth having, it is worth working for regardless of how hard it may seem or how long it may take.
MY "BLONDE" MOMENTSWhen I was 18, I was having dinner with a bunch of friends. We were trying to decide what to do after dinner. There was a park nearby and it was a beautiful day. When the suggestion to play baseball came up, my friends lamented on the fact that we had no equipment to play. Although I didn't have everything we needed, I did pipe up with, "Well I have a bat and two balls."
I was finishing up my associates degree and took a class on physical science which included the study of the planets. We were each assigned to groups and were given a particular planet to research. 'Lo and behold, my group was assigned Uranus (still pronounced "yer A nus." Well, we learned that planets were categorized as being either large or small and either as being rock or gaseous. I was elected to write the report and present it in class. The introduction of my report considered the classifications of the planet and began with, "Uranus is large and gaseous."NOTE: Nothing dawned on me until the class broke out in laughter and my professor said, "Thank you."
While in a Waffle House one day, I decided to order a chocolate chip waffle. The server went to the other side of the restaurant to make the waffle and add the chips. I was tired of them just dumping a pile of chips on the center of the waffle, so I called across the restaurant, "I want one in every hole."
WANT TO HEAR MY VOICE? I WANT TO HEAR YOURS
MY CHILDRENI have raised 3 sons who have turned into fine young men. They were born in April 1984, June 1989, and August 1990. I am extremely proud of all of them. My eldest son has had to handle tremendous burdens in his life beginning at a very young age, but he always manages to fall on his feet. I'd like to think he got that from his mama. My middle son got married on February 20, 2009 and has a step-son who was born in November 2007. He and his wife are expecting a child in November 2009. He is currently majoring in engineering as well as working full-time to support his family. My youngest son is in the United States Army. He could have been a fine stand-up comedian should he have desired to and always kept me laughing. All of my sons have huge hearts and are quite responsible in comparison to many of their peers. My love for them is beyond words.
