| My friend had her kids at the local carnival last night and her 9 y/o daughter was acting up so she spanked her on the butt. I guess someone went to the police there and reported that she smacked her daughter in the face. She was hauled into the police station and was treated very rudely. She was not even told what the report said until after over an hour of being drilled. She kept saying I was always under the impression that you were allowed to spank your child on the butt as long as no marks were left. They never told her what the report said until later. When they finally said..Ma'am you were reported as smacking you daughter in the face..Do you realize you can go to jail for this? Her daughter jumped up and said she didn't smack me in the face, but on the butt. It was totally out of line I think. Her daughter was even taken back and examined for signs of abuse. I mean child abuse cases need to be investigated..But, I feel it was handled all wrong. But my question is this...Do you think that we as parents are losing our rights to discipline our children causing them to be more out of control?? Or do you think the authorities are doing what needs to be done? |
