I mean, Ive lived for almost 30 years and through the years Ive changed a shit-ton, like from Republican to Democrat, Coke to Pepsi and now back to Coke... So, do I talk about the current me, the me that Ive become or the me that I want the world think of. Is there even enough room on a piece of paper to describe me? Arent I too multi-dimensional, too multi-cultural, too multi-vitaminal for such a simple yet complex question.Well, the truth of the matter is that there is a Me that is my core. Thats the guy that wont or cant deviate because at heart of it all, its ME. However, I will admit that I can be a little different around different groups of people.When Im around my black friends, I sometimes slip into my urban mode and start using rap lyrics as analogies for most situations and I tend to start hollering at shorties in a very direct manner. Around my Latino friends, Im much more sympathetic to social service and immigration rights issues as opposed to when Im with my Orange County buddies whose answer for doing anything manual is get the Mexicans. Among FOBs I sing along to Bizarre Love Triangle and recommend karaoke as a possible Saturday night outing, not so much for basically everyone else I know. I get hella hard and ghetto around my Stocktonian peeps, but can actually sound like I give a shit about post-modern-art-deco-angular-pre-Pollock works of art when Im doing my Hamptons thing. The Ramones and Sex Pistols rule my life in Silver Lake, but honestly, that shit is a bit dated to me and the Wednesday night at Les Deux crew. Im sensitive to racial and gay jokes around my Coro Fellows, but Im all about White Power around Jay (I joke, I kid).Does this make me two faced? Does this make me a bad person? Am I am selectively racist? I dont know, but at least I can admit it. I am who you know me to be, with some slight variations to my slang, tone of voice and humor.p.s.
