Jeannette Young 1934-1999......Never heard of her, have you? She was my mother, God rest her soul. Jeannette is and
will always be my idol. I was raised in South Central L.A.
and Jeannette raise me with alot of love and toughness. That foot was in my ass when it came to school and stayin' out of those dangerous streets. She worked her ass off so that we could have all the things that we needed. Remember
all the "brand named" stuff we used to wear, well K-MART
didn't sell it, so we wasn't wearin'it, times was tight. I didn't like not havin the new "nikes" everybody had on. I can remember askin for a pair and til this day I still remember her exact words,' You got some damn "nike" money, if not sounds like you need a damn "nike" job. I was 12yrs old and lil feelin's hurt. But she made it clear that you have to earn the thing you WANT in life. Clothes were a NEED, "Jordashe and nikes", were a WANT. I began to clean garages, cut grass, do odd chores just to save money for the WANTS. I also felt the empowerment of paying for things with your own hard earned money. Thank you Momma for those lil life lessons. At 18 yrs old I was involved in somethin' I should have been doin', I was in carcerated for 5 days, momma left me their to teach me a lesson. What I learned is that the incarceration shit wasn't for me and I would never have that lesson taught to me again. So far so good, I'm now 42. So to my kids, if i don't get them AIR FORCE 1's, or I get in you ass about School, or leave yo ass incarcerated for a few days, Thank ya Grandmom, I always do.You'll realize it all outta love , like I did.
