As a NYC EMT I have had to accept a 2 day old infant into my care and bring them to the hospital for proper care because the young mother simply said should didn't want the child.
I have had mixed feelings about this for a long time ...
Should we have baby safe havens/ baby moses/ baby drop off's ... They are usually no questions asked no consequences to the parents as long as the infant is dropped off within the first week of the infants life.
Is there a benefit to programs like this without consequences for the parents?
Yes there are benefits, and we need more places with these programs.
Or,
No Parents should face consequences, and we should limit these programs.
