As of late, I have been trying to avoid discussing things that I feel strongly about with people that seem to have their minds made up. Many of these people seem only to be interested in advancing their own point of view without any concern for dissenting opinions. When I'm speaking with someone who seems to be willing to listen to opinions that are contrary to their own, then I am glad to have what will hopefully be a productive discussion.
Do you think it makes sense to avoid discussing things that are important to you with people who are close-minded or do you think it is better to put yourself through the frustration in the hope that one, or both, of you will learn something from the conversation? |
