Ok, I admit, i'm an old fart, stuck in the past in my beliefs and thoughts most of the time. (slow to change) The other night, I was eating dinner with a friend and her neice who was home from college for the weekend. I asked her who she was "dating" these days and she laughed at me. When i asked her to explain, she said that noone actually dated anymore, that they now simply hung out and if the attraction was there and the opportunity, they simply "hooked up", meaning immediate gratification, headboard banging, casual sex, with no attachments. she said that if the attraction was there and the urge, it happened, no matter what the age, ect. So I said, so it's like, hmmmmmmmm shes hot, i'd hit it, and she said yep, pretty much. shes 20 and "hooking up" with one of her professors who is 49. Little stretch on the age difference to me, but still pondering here. So my question i guess is who "dates" anymore and who deems it a waste of time? Does anyone actually meet, go out, possibly want to get more involved, get to know eachother, or is it more about personal gratification? Another thing ive noticed locally is that if young people actually do go out, and they dont become semi involved, than there must be something wrong with one of them, and they have to find out what they did wrong. still confusing. comments? |
