I hate writing these things, but I always read what others have written so I suppose I'd better do it.

Single, independent, house-trained: I guess that sums me up. I'm Scottish by birth, and proud of it, though I now live in a pleasant part of England. Various sports have been, and some still are, an outlet for my competitiveness and energy. I've even represented my country on a few occasions. I don't like losing unless I know I've done my best.

I'm useless with foreign languages so, although I love travelling, I'm more comfortable in English-speaking areas. I think it's rude to expect people to speak to me in English when I'm abroad. That hasn't stopped me visiting some beautiful places though.

I DO appreciate the English language, particularly good spelling and grammar. What I CANNOT get my head around is this idiotic habit some people have of capitalising every other letter. For those who do it, your spelling and grammar already make it hard enough to read what you're saying: don't make it any harder by intentionally doing something THAT stupid as well. Oh, and one final thing, don't use an apostrophe for a simple plural! I give up. The language is going to the dogs...

My interest in photography has grown and I've invested more time and money in this lately. I hope it's paying off! I particularly enjoy wildlife photography though it's been mainly birds I've photographed so far because there's greater opportunity for that. There are few things that anger me more than people killing animals for their own selfish pleasure. (Not even poor English upsets me that much!) If these people want the thrill of the hunt, they should shoot with a camera, and even then they should take every care not to disturb a creature's natural habitat any more than is necessary. Their "trophy" could be a wonderful photograph instead of a skin or a stuffed head on a wall. Leave nature for everyone to experience and enjoy instead of trying to wipe it out.
