I broke up with my previous boyfriend several weeks ago. He is just now moving out, after a huge argument this afternoon. He works nights and went to work tonight, will get off at 7am, and is suppose to be coming to get his shit out of my house. And yes, it is my house. I told him if he was not going to get it out tonight, I would pack it for him so he could just pick it up in the morning. He said "No you won't" meaning that he didn't want me touching his crap. He has been extremely emotionally abusive to myself, his own daughter (who has chosen to stay here with me), and my son. I went through the house and seperated things like towels, silverware, etc. I know that the law states he cannot remove anything from the house that belongs to me or the kids. He cannot take anything he purchased and gave to us as a gift. He cannot remove our personal items. He cannot take things that belonged to me before we got into a relationship together. He can, however, remove posessions that he owned pre-us, his own personal items, and up to half of all common items (read:anything we purchased together for both of us or our family as a whole, any household supplies such as silly things like laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, etc. And yes, he is enough of an asshole that he would take half the laundry detergent). My question is, knowing how vindictive he is, should I call the police when he gets here to get his stuff so that they can escort him through the house and stop him from taking things that aren't his, or removing all of those "common items"?

P.S. I am being nice here, my mom wanted to sit his stuff by the street and light it on fire. His own daughter wanted to sit all his shit outside and change the locks tonight while he was gone.
