OK, this one has really bugged me for the past 6 years. Today, I am to go to New Jersey on a Sunday to have "Fo-Thanksgiving" with the family. Before my Mom died 6 years ago. I we would get together on the Saturday closest to the 13th, 14, & 15th for 3 family members birthdays. Then, again on Thanksgiving Day.
Since Mom died, we only go to my Sister's house for Fo-Thanksgiving which is the Sunday before Thanksgiving as a "Combo" or "Fo" Thanksgiving Day.
So on Thanksgiving I try to find friends with nothing to do to go to a movie or do anything which sucks.
I am about to leave to put on a smile to see the family.
AM I --- A) I'm stupid for thinking that seeing your family "doesn't
want to be bothered twice in November as part of keeping the family close.
or
B) Just deal with it and bite your tongue. Just visit Mom's grave before going to see them. Go to your movies on the real thanksgiving and don't say anything to family except "Happy Birthday" or "Happy Thanksgiving" The sunday before the Thanksgiving. |
