If you were seriously falling for a person, it seemed like you were so compatible and everything was working out, but you have a pretty deep secret about your sex past that you just haven't felt comfortable with sharing while you were getting to know the person.
So now it's at the point where you tell the person- and for some people this is a dealbreaker.
You have an STD that will never go away. And they could get it by being with you (but there are things you can do {like hello, wrap it!} that would make it virtually impossible to get the STD from you).
