I manage a garage. I have all male mechanics. Sometimes I feel that they resent the fact that I'm a female. The problem is I have been here longer than any of them. I handle the bills, taxes, payroll, irate customers and vendors. If they need something I get it. If they need something from the boss I am the go between. The problem is they don't respect me because I work in the office and not the shop. My job is to make sure they are doing theirs. I don't want to become one of those women who acts like a total bitch to get her respect. I have nothing to prove to these guys.
My question is how do I get their respect without being mean? |
