If you haven't heard... there is a couple in the UK that are getting divorced in real life over the Husbands Virtual affair on a website based in Virtual reality. His VIRTUAL persona was caught by his real life wife having Sex with another VIRTUAL person on the game SECOND LIFE.

What are we to make of this? Is VIRTUAL CHEATING the same as REAL CHEATING?

See Article Below...

Amy Taylor and David Pollard met in May 2003 and fell in love through a chat-room on the internet. The two were so taken in by the virtual world that on the day that they got married, in July of 2005, they replicated the ceremony on 'Second Life'. But in the end, it was the same on-line network that united them, that caused them to split up.
According to the 'Daily Mail', the two passed almost more time on the internet than in real life. And one day the wife discovered the avatar (the alter ego) of the husband in a compromising position with a prostitute. "I went crazy: I was so hurt that I couldn't believe what had happened". But Amy didn't throw in the towel, using virtual money (Linden dollars) used by the residents, she hired a detective to investigate the adultery. But when this April she discovered her husband (rather his avatar...) in another compromising situation, she saw red. "He was embracing a woman on a sofa and their behaviour was very affectionate". According to Amy, her husband was practicing 'cyber-sex' with a user in the USA, and even though the two had never met in person, Amy felt betrayed all the same: "I asked him to let me read the conversations, but he turned off the computer: he confessed to having contact with an American woman for the last couple of weeks, but he also said that our marriage was finished, that he didn't love me anymore and that we should never have married". Tomorrow the woman will go to a judge to ask for a divorce.
