| I have a 1/3 basement entry from outside and indoors,completely unfinished and A full attic. My neck of the woods is rich in Radon but I do intend on eventually having a radon ventilation system installed and using my basement for more than storage. The floor plan of my house would allow me to put in a staircase without losing ground floor space I can't sacrifice while still building a substantial master in the attic. I have 3 children who will in a distant future be teenagers and only two bedrooms! My thoughts are it would be cheaper to convert the basement to a master but the comfort and equity (as well as expense)would be in the attic. I envision a new stairwell,dormers,insulation,structural upgrade to accommodate a load bearing floor and of course walls and ceiling. Thoughts?up or down? I'm a do it yourselfer on a budget so whichever direction I go will take years to complete. |
