Well, here I am again, belonging yet not belonging to the world I live in. Trying to figure out what it is that I'm supposed to be doing, ideas and possibilities whirring through my mind, yet no single thing stands out prominantly among them. Growing up, I was told you are born and have a path, a destiny of sorts, a purpose...I have yet to find mine. It seems that path not only twists and turns, but one can actually fall by the wayside, never making it back...which would make that particular life rather pointless in my view...I just can't believe things are that cut and dried. I now understand why The Ancestors held trees in such high regard and how they likened them to one's life...you have roots...scattered but ending up in one place...your life....you live during your formative years growing strong, building to adulthood...in that beginning adulthood you have many choices...what you can or should do with your life....call those limbs...there are usually several on any tree. Based on which limb you chose are the branches...the possibilities of where those choices or limbs can take you...each ending in a different spot, but always stopping with the same end result....eternity. Each one has a certain strength...some weak some not,but all are capable of breaking under too much stress, so the choice must be made after careful consideration. Many trees make the forest, many people make our world...and deep within that forest lies another similarity. Looking upon a wood...it might be beautiful...as many cultures are...but there are places of darkness and light, just like there is in any society....and a depth that can only be measured once one has gone through it. I understand the wisdom in that ancient view...my problem is figuring out which limb is my strongest and which branch to pass and which to take. Have you figured yours out yet?
