Gov. Rick Perry has expressed bewilderment that his recent statements, seen by many to support secession, drew so much attention. He did assert Texas' right to leave the U.S., and he expressed sympathy for those so frustrated with the federal government's taxes, spending and mandates that they feel secession is an option.
Some lawmakers don't appreciate the distractions and on Friday, the House deleted almost the entire governor's office operating budget for the next two years $22 million.
Most likely the money will be returned before the session...and certainly the secession ends.
What do you think? Is he just fanning the fires and playing to the right winged members of his party, or is he really sticking up for the people of Texas? |
