She puts on fake faces,
To go out in the world everyday.
She nods and smiles and pretends like
Everything is okay.
Behind her fake facade
She is actually crying out inside
To be understood,
Not noticed for who she pretends she is today.
All she wants is to know
What real love actually is
To be able to touch and feel it
To understand its gifts.
Love comes in many forms
She knows that this is true
The form that she's seeking
Is one that seems to allude.
She continues her search
Seeking out each day
A new experience to learn from
And maybe love will find a way
To show itself to her
In the way that she seeks,
But she must learn that to accept
The love that she wants
She must quit putting on fake faces
And let herself shine
She must learn that people will love her
No matter what she thinks is her crime.
For her loved ones will forgive her
That's what friends are for
That's one of the many side effects of love
And one she must explore.
When she puts on her fake faces
She's not being true to herself
She's not fooling anybody
She's only alluding the one thing
That she keeps seeking
If she will just be herself
Everything she wants will follow
And happiness will be in her grasp
And no longer hard to swallow.
