is considered a date?

I had someone ask me the other day, if I was dating anyone. When I said yes, they asked exactly what do we do on dates. I really didn't have an answer.

So what exactly is a date? The person I was talking to said a date was "taking time to spend with a specific person without distraction". Guess I thought it was just dinner and a movie.

So please tell me your definition of a date!
