i've been reading memorial day comments, mumms, message boards...
and theres a lot of discussion on whether it should be considered a celebration, happy, BBQ, beaches etc...or if people should be sad, morn, etc....
all this raised a question in my own mind and i came to the conclusion that people celebrate and do what they do because thats what they grew up knowing and doing...
military personel and military families i can understand the frame of mind on memorial day being a vet myself.
but in referring to civilians and "SOME" military and their families
my question is:
had it not been for 9/11 and the war in the middle east would memorial day mean as much? would it hit as hard?....
before all this generally speaking , memorial day WAS INDEED another excuse for people to have a 3 day weekend and take off and party...and with the exception of those from military families not much was thought of it...
i think now it hits closer to home because of current situation...
A. I would have the same view regardless of the current war
B. I dont think i would have thought much of it before
