Heres the situation: You just witnessed your significant others friend involved in a brutal car accident. You need to contact them to let them know whats going on. You know your lover cares deeply for this friend thus will likely react strongly to the news. You are 15 minutes from both the hospital and home.
Of the options below, which would be your **first inclination**?
1) Call them and tell them bluntly what happened and let them know what hospital their friend is being taken to. Think, he/she needs to be strong and get to the hospital as quickly as possible! There will be time for an emotional response later.
2) Wait until you get home and tell them in person in case they become hysterical. On the way try to think of the best way to phrase it. Upon arrival, ask them to set down and hint at what youre about to say. While time is critical, I need to make sure I treat this matter as delicately as possible. |
