Ever notice people really dont ask questions anymore?
Think about it The last time someone asked you something how did they phrase it?
Do you wanna go to the bar later? Or perhaps You wanna go get some coffee?
When someone says that to me I sometimes think to myself, do I want to go get some coffee? Well, no, actually I hadnt even thought about getting coffee until you just mentioned it. So, to answer that question specifically I would have to say no. But, to respond to its implied meaning I could answer either way depending on how I felt about the prospect of getting some liquid caffeinated goodness. *drool*
Personally I think this beckons to our avoidance of taking a firm position on a topic. The responsibility of the request is diverted by our phrasing of the question. We cant be held accountable if we dont really take a direct stance.
On the other hand we are our environment so maybe its just something weve picked up from pop culture and there really isnt anything more to it.
Am I on to something or just reading into it too much?
