I am a travel nurse, which if you're unfamiliar with the job means I travel city to city working in hospitals/clinics for short periods of time (usually 13 weeks.)
I am about to complete my 2nd assignment at my current facility, and have decided I want to move on. Several months ago one of my best friend's exs (for lack of a more appropriate term) had mentioned to my friend and me that he would really like for me to get an assignment in Texas where he is stationed (he is Army) so that there would be someone he knows and is comfortable around in the area to converse with, hang out with, etc., and if I wanted to go that far away from my home state (SC) for an assignment, there would be someone there I already know, am comfortable with, and knows a lil about the area.
My best friend thinks it would be good for him, since he is amazingly shy to be in the Army,and it would be good for me to get far away from all the drama that my family has caused the past year- to keep up the fresh start I have been making for myself.
Tonight someone told me that it was wrong for me to go because its my best friends ex- whatever, and I shouldnt follow 'a friend' half way across the country, that somehow I'd be stringing him along. I have no interest in him other than a friend, and my bff is all ok with it. Is even considering the opportunity wrong? Should I go if I can or look elsewhere for an assignment. Any insight and advice is appreciated. |
