I'm the enigma that keeps you guessing - wanting more. When everyone else is arriving I am already out the door. I've no time for social gatherings or mindless chit chat. I prefer to keep my nose in books and my mind in the clouds. When there's time I do partake in a late` with a date. Though I am not in a hurry to marry it sure would be nice to find a lifelong poetry mate.

Recent Events: I had to put my cat Munchkin to sleep. He was 14. I wrote a poem in his memory.

So He May Take His Final Rest

As my eyes welled
locked in adoration
in such depth and breadth
of his bright blue eyes

I learned of love
from timid beast
penetrated my heart -
every beat

simple affection he splayed
deeply infused with my own
a midnight purr
lying by my side

For years beside
me as I slept
the only comfort
warm, soft, consistent

His devotion unrivaled
to get all the attention
that it was contagious
to pet his ivory hair

before I left the house
I'd always find him
and say goodbye
"Hey Munch, goodbye buddy"

So happy he'd be
when I had returned
hurridly beating me
to my chair,
force me to pick him up
so he could curl up on my chest
and retire there

I knew the day would come
when I'd have to
return his unwavering love
to extinguish his wonderful spirit
from a body which betrayed him
broken, weak and frail

As my eyes welled
tears now streaming
why does the right thing
have to hurt
to hurridly stop his pain
and inject it all curled up inside my chest
and retire it there

How will I handle
returning home
without a race to my chair
how will I sleep
without his purr
or petting his ivory hair

How can I handle leaving
the house
when my buddy is no longer there

"Goodbye, buddy"
may you retire in peace
